Peter Smith's Garaj Quartet
Peter has been playing, teaching, and recording jazz for decades and leads this group in a few incarnations but always with: bass, drums, piano and/or guitar and sometimes percussion, with himself on sax and flute. The group is a collective of musicians who love to play and improvise. The Latin version of the band contains a lot of Brazil while the funky version (PSQFunk) has hard bop and modern jazz sounds like Herbie Hancock, John Scofield and Pat Metheny. The band features some great Toronto musicians like Tim Shia, Attila Fias, Bret Higgins and Richard Brisco. Starting during Covid, Peter hosts frequent jams under the name Garaj Mahal Jam.
