Papalote's sound is rooted in the rich tradition of ‘Son Montuno’, a Cuban musical style celebrated for its intoxicating mix of intricate rhythms, folkloric poetry and breathtaking improvisation. Inspired by legendary artists such as Arsenio Rodriguez and Compay Segundo, Papalote merges the traditional with the unconventional, infusing elements of Latin, Jazz and Salsa into classic ‘Son’ repertoire. They also explore some lesser known Cuban genres such as ‘Changüi’ and ‘Nengón’.
