8.00 - WEDDING
Hailing from Kelowna, B.C., 22 year-old Walt Mudie of Wedding seeks to express the ambiguity present in everyday life through melody, rhythm, & texture. The Wedding sound is littered with contrasting stylistic choices. Layered electronic music, angular indie rock, and alternative hip hop all peek through the haze in Mudie's eclectic productions, pointing to his experiences working in each respective musical style. His music is as much inspired by dreamy acts, like Broadcast and Alex G, as it is by acoustic music, such as Andy Shauf and Joni Mitchell. He calls upon friends to join his ever-evolving backing band lineup for the loose and passionate Wedding live performances.
11.00 - GABE ELIAS
Gabe Elias is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music educator from Toronto, currently residing in Victoria, BC. Gabe creates folk songs that are contemplative, raw, and honest. Having been compared to artists such as Bob Dylan and Twain, his music is characterized by intricate guitar picking and a fearless singing style. Recording in bedrooms and basements across Western Canada, he works organic textures into his songs including strings and woodwinds, bringing collaborators into the process as heard in his recent single ‘Digging’. His lyrics explore themes of passing time, changing friendships, and finding beauty in the face of loss.
