FRIDAY

TRIO MOROCHITAS
6.00 - 8.00

Trio Morochitas (Irene Torres, Jeronimo Acuna, Matias Recharte) continues in the tradition of the “creole music” (musica criolla) of the Peruvian coast. This style developed in Lima and other cities during the last century by fusing the hottest European dances of the early 20th century (Viennese Waltzes, Polkas, etc) with the rhythmic trickery and melodic elegance of Afro and Indigenous Peruvians. Famed composers like Manuel Covarrubias, Felipe Pinglo, Luis Abelardo Takahashi Nunez and Chabuca Granda wrote some of the most iconic songs of this genre and of Latin American music. Trio Morochitas pays tribute to these masters and to the people who keep this tradition alive and up to date back home, for the new generations to learn and enjoy.

The debut single "Wildflowers" arrived Oct 2022, and the debut EP "Ilha Grande" is arriving in November 2022.
