RIDDIM RIDERS

Singer-songwriter and percussionist Mike Rajczak, guitarist Franklin Joseph and bassist Richard Dailey together form the acoustic trio known as Riddim Riders Raw. Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, the Riddim Riders began as a
full-size reggae band in 2004, but developed their stripped-down, ¨raw¨ acoustic set some 10 years later, which included a slightly different repertoire of both original and cover songs, as well as a wider range of genres. With solid arrangements and rich vocal harmonies Riddim Riders Raw pay homage to roots reggae, but also classic r&b, soul, rock, and even country. The trio’s original music is considered their greatest feature, with thoughtful lyrics, melodies reminiscent of the classic reggae and ¨lovers rock¨ style, finely crafted vocal harmonies, and locked-in instrumental grooves. The band’s unique sound creates live performances that showcase their exceptional musicianship as well as their deep connection to the soul of music. Everyone needs a good dose of Riddim Riders Raw.

Led by charismatic bandleader Ahmed Moneka, Moneka Arabic Jazz is a project reflecting his life and journey in art from Baghdad to Toronto. It fuses Maqam – a style of Arabic music he learned in his native Iraq – and African groove and rhythm that he inherited from his African descendants. A true reflection of Toronto’s multiculturalism, the band combines styles and influences from the Mediterranean, to North Africa, the Middle East and North America. The band features members from across the world, who all found each other here in Toronto.
