With melody as the guiding star, guitarist and composer, Matt Greenwood, seeks to create cinematic musical landscapes where composition and improvisation intersect. Having grown up in Zimbabwe and moved to Canada in recent years, Matt’s music is inherently nomadic, pushing against the confines of genre and geography. Matt is now pursuing his passion for musical exploration in Toronto, having performed and recorded with legendary Zimbabwean artists including Oliver Mtukudzi, Gemma Griffiths, Forward Kwenda and Vee Mukarati as well some of Toronto’s finest such as Mark Kelso, Brian Dickinson and Mike Downes. Matt’s debut album ‘Atlas’ has just been released this January, already garnering positive reviews and radio play around Canada and the rest of the world including USA, Russia, Mexico, Denmark and Zimbabwe.

At an undisclosed location in a city somewhere in Canada, the highly guarded script for the greatest movie never made was born – featuring pirates, evil robot squids and a heroic one-armed football player. Long time friends and collaborators Nathan Hiltz and Johnny Griffith, spent many post gig hours creating characters and worlds like the ones they lost themselves in as kids.
They brought that sense of adventure into jam sessions where Nathan’s long legs sprang into action on a dusty set of bass pedals. Synchronizing arms and legs with precision, Hiltz seamlessly weaves a steadfast time feel on bass with his fiery and intuitive guitar playing. Johnny armed himself with every horn in his arsenal, sometimes simultaneously, building intricate melodies, proving there is no limit to the imagination and coordination. Neil Macintosh masterfully rounds out the groove with his heavy, signature style. Together they combine sonic forces to redefine musical doubling and obliterate convention.
Amidst a global pandemic, GHT has come together – while apart – to craft their most unconventional and nostalgic record yet. ARCADE borrows soundscapes from classic 80s video games and movie themes, blending them with GHT’s unmistakeable genre-bending style.
