25 Years of La Palette
7.00
La Palette, the French bistro that started in Kensington Market and is now on Queen West, turns 25 in November.
From the get-go, owners Shamez Amlani, Maria Flawia Litwin, and their staff and friends were key drivers of urban activism. Through movements like Parking Meter Parties, Pedestrian Sundays and The Blackout Anniversary parades, the community surrounding La Palette has distinctly made the city a better place to live.
Very quickly, La Palette became an essential third place for successive waves of multicultural artists. Fundamentally, legendary local bands such as Moskitto Bar and Moneka Arabic Jazz were nurtured by this expansive, open community.
Our friends at the Drom Artist Collective have created a magical 200-page book, detailing the characters and stories behind the community we hold dear. Come hang at DROM from 7-9pm, share some food, drinks, stories. Please come join us for this next installment of our community-building exercise.
