TORONTO KLEZMER SOCIETY PRESENTS: THE HORABLES
7.00
The Toronto Klezmer Society was founded in November 2018 with the intention to grow the Klezmer music scene in Toronto and beyond, push the boundaries of the genre while upholding its history and origins, introduce the music to a new audience and share knowledge. This website is intended to be an archive and resource for anyone who wants to join in the music, or is curious/enthusiastic about Klezmer.
TKS has started a bi-monthly showcase of bands and a jam at DROM Taberna, this week we will be highlighting The Horables.
The Horables play an eclectic mix of Klezmer, Django style jazz, polkas, Gypsy dance tunes and rags from the age of steam. You will also hear songs in Yiddish and English. The Horables bring authentic joyful Jewish music to any event or setting from folk festivals (such as Mill Race, Northern Lights, Ashkenaz , Winterfolk, Jewish Music Week and Roncesvalles Polish festival) to nightclubs, gallery openings and family and community events. They rose from the ashes of a band known for it's activism as well as it's music, the all woman Klezmer band Pomegranate.
