MATT GREENWOOD TRIO

With melody as the guiding star, guitarist and composer, Matt Greenwood, seeks to create cinematic musical landscapes where composition and improvisation intersect. Having grown up in Zimbabwe and moved to Canada in recent years, Matt’s music is inherently nomadic, pushing against the confines of genre and geography. Matt is now pursuing his passion for musical exploration in Toronto, having performed and recorded with legendary Zimbabwean artists including Oliver Mtukudzi, Gemma Griffiths, Forward Kwenda and Vee Mukarati as well some of Toronto’s finest such as Mark Kelso, Brian Dickinson and Mike Downes. Matt’s debut album ‘Atlas’ has just been released this January, already garnering positive reviews and radio play around Canada and the rest of the world including USA, Russia, Mexico, Denmark and Zimbabwe.

ALLA BOARA

Alla Boara seeks to bring recognition and new life to Italy’s diverse history of regional folk music. Their modern arrangements of near-extinct folk songs are variously surprising, playful, mournful, tender, and bewitching. The vision of drummer and composer Anthony Taddeo, Alla Boara also features vocalist Amanda Powell (Apollo’s Fire), guitarist Dan Bruce, trumpeter Tommy Lehman, bassist Ian Kinnaman, and accordionist and keyboardist Clay Colley. Currently touring their first record, Le Tre Sorelle, Alla Boara has received critical acclaim for its originality and accessibility and was recently featured in NPR’s “Shuffle”, SWR2 in Germany, All About Jazz, Jazz Weekly, and was predicted to have a bright future by Cleveland Magazine.

15$ cover after 10pm, with all proceeds going directly to the musicians performing.
