Wagner Petrilli discovered his passion for the violão (Brazilian guitar) at an early age, and grew up apprenticing under several masters of the instrument in São Paulo. In 1998, Wagner moved to Toronto and quickly became a sought-after guitarist in the city’s Brazilian music scene. Since then, he has travelled across Canada performing with a number of artists and ensembles, and has been commissioned to compose and write lyrics for an array of projects. In 2014, he released his solo CD entitled Confissão, which received much critical acclaim and was nominated for World Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Awards.

Athina Malli and Stavros Kanichis are pleased to present their most recent project, A Journey to Greece, at Toronto’s premier music stage, DROM Taberna. Hailing from different backgrounds and regions within Greece, each member brings their own unique musical influences to the ensemble. A Journey to Greece features talented musicians and vocalists, specialized in instruments like bouzouki, clarinet, ney, piano, lute, oud, and percussion.
The Journey to Greece project is a fusion of ancient musical tradition and contemporary rhythms, skilfully blending the haunting melodies of Epirus, the spirited dances of the Aegean islands and the soulful melodies of the Bouzouki into a harmonious tapestry. The showcase of “a Journey to Greece” is a celebration of Greece’s rich cultural mosaic that transcends boundaries and unites audiences through the universal language of music.

The Emmett Hodgins Coast group is a quartet that explores the bridges between jazz music and alternative genres. They play a plethora of original material with influence from the Toronto and BC jazz scenes and pretty noise. Music students from UofT and Humber, they plan to harness their mental illness into fun, cool music.
