PAPALOTE
8.30

Papalote is a Toronto-based Latin music group that has created a unique sound and repertoire rooted in the Cuban tradition of Son Montuno, with its seductive blend of folkloric poetry and complex rhythms: the Cha-cha-cha, Nengon and Son. Musically, Papalote balances rural and urban traditions within the genre. More than interpretive, their adaptive approach and stylistic innovations resonate with listeners and dancers alike. Toes will be tapping!

REBEKAH HAWKER
11.00

"Humble, self-deprecating, and consistently hilarious, Rebekah Hawker smiles often and easily onstage. Her well-crafted songs share stories of love, heartbreak and everything in between and are showcased by her explosively dynamic voice and casually intimate conversation style.

Her debut single 'Round of Fools' was placed on Spotify's 'Fresh Finds' editorial playlist and Starbuck's Official Country playlist. In 2020 Rebekah’s song ‘Catch You’ won Folk Music Ontario’s Songs from the Heart award and in 2022 she was selected as an official showcasing artist at their annual conference, performing her original music hot off of her Western Canada tour. She was recently a selected participant in this year's RBC x Music's Launchpad Music Entrepreneurship Program at Daniels Launchpad Toronto. With support from both FACTOR and Ontario Arts Council she will be releasing her newest single ‘Ticket’ this coming September 2023."
