For 4 Wednesdays, Drom Taberna is thrilled to welcome the exclusive Moneka Arabic Jazz for the Moneka's Aman - safety in Arabic - Series.

A project reflecting Ahmed Moneka's journey and culture from Baghdad to Toronto, for which he's so grateful to collaborate with really talented musicians from the Toronto music scene. It introduces ‘maqam’ the Arabic music skills that he learnt in Iraq, mixed with African groove and rhythm that he inherited from his African descendants, the well-known Moneka family and a North American jazzy fusion sensibility.

Moneka Arabic Jazz is highly sought after in the World Music scene in Canada and abroad.

Each Wednesday will have a different opener, and money will be donated to Medical Aid For Palestinians and the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.

Old-time fiddler Tony Allen and Nashville based guitarist Harry Bartlett come together to perform a selection of North American folk songs. Informed by the styles of Mother Maybelle Carter to Bill Frissell, Tony and Harry blend their own musical voices to offer a nostalgic yet unique performance steeped in tradition and the rich heritage of folk music.
