The Tomoko Abe and Sam Ruttan ECM Fellowship Band is a collaborative effort between Tomoko Abe (voice), James Addis (piano), Carlo Santo Domingo (bass) and Sam Ruttan (drums), all former students of the York and Humber music programs. We perform a mixture of contemporary jazz compositions and original music with a strong ECM influence, inspired by the likes of Brian Blade, Kenny Wheeler, and Carla Bley.
Our focus is on dynamic interaction and improvisation, and we are excited to make our debut performance at the DROM Taberna!!

For sheer exuberance, showmanship, and just plain fun, this band of crazed musical vagabonds is simply impossible to beat. With all members hailing from the former Soviet Union and one Canadian, there is a distinct cultural and musical influence that clearly sets this band apart. It's very rare to see a live band that can coax a crowd into dancing the way the JUMPLE can - they get people out of their seats and on their feet. With their usual antics and anything-goes attitude, they put on one of the zaniest and most compelling performances, their live shows are always unique and interactive experiences, capturing the hearts of a wide variety of audiences... They are JUMPLE and so can you!

Kilowatt Band performs music from the seventies to the present, huge hits from bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, Confunkshun, Maceo Parker,and Barkays. They've played El Mocambo, The Hideout, and many other premier venues in Toronto. The band is active in the community, and has been involved with playing benefits for Cancer Research and programs for homeless and at-risk youth in Toronto. Most of all, Kilowatt Band wants to be a group that can reach out to the young funkateers that are afraid to come out, to bring funk fans together. Wherever they perform they bring the crowd to life and leave them dancing.
