FRIDAY

GABRIEL ZUCKER
6.00

New York-based songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and polymath Gabriel Zucker makes urgently emotional music for disconnected times. His work combines maximalist compositions, intimate songwriting, virtuosic metric complexity, and the progressive improvisation of New York’s creative music scene.

In February, Zucker and longtime collaborators Eva Lawitts (bass) and Connor Parks (drums) tour Canada and the Northeast in support of Confession, released in November on Boomslang Records.

TAK ARIKUSHI
8.30

Tak Arikushi plays hot swing jazz with a Japanese twist: he fuses the red-hot swing rhythms of Django Reinhardt and rhapsodic Japanese melodies both traditional and contemporary. Inventive arrangements with the acoustic string instrumentation are filled with virtuosic displays and melodic meditations to create a sound that will have you tapping your toe and simultaneously contemplating zen.

$15 cover after 10PM and $20 after 2AM, with all proceeds going directly to the musicians performing.

HEAVYWEIGHTS BRASS BAND
11.30

The Heavyweights Brass Band hits hard with its seasoned blend of groove, energy, virtuosity, and originality! For over a decade, this Toronto-based, New Orleans-inspired brass institution has brought theatre-goers to their feet and club-goers to the dance floor with an inspiring blend of original music and unexpected covers. The decision is in and audience members across North America unanimously give the win to HWBB in a knockout!

THE PSYCH FI’S

2.30

I don’t know what The Del Fi’s are; the more I think about it, the more I don’t know what to say. But I know it’s right, and I know it’s good. I know it works. I mean, it’s Jerry Leger’s thing, but when I asked him what he would say The Del Fi’s are, all he would tell me is that I (meaning me) am The Del Fi’s, just as you (meaning you) are The Del Fi’s. And because you are you, you understand.
