ATHENA LIM

ATHENA LIM is an emerging Canadian, London/Toronto-based singer-songwriter and artist. Her influences range from pop, blues, rock, folk, jazz, reggae and classical citing influences from Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Nina Simone, Florence and the Machine, Adele, Toots and the Maytals, Parliament-Funkadelic to Bach. This diversity of musical tastes culminates in her particular indie-folk-pop sound. She is also a visual artist and chose to defer acceptance to complete graduate studies in Print at the Royal College of Art & Design (London) the world’s most prestigious post-graduate institute for art, in order to aggressively pursue music. She released her debut EP in 2024 and is currently working on her first LP.
Athena’s music comes alive through a particular multi-cultural and poetic lens. She has Chinese-Filipino roots from her mother who was born in Manila and a European heritage from her father who hails from southern Greece. She is an ardent fan of magical realism in literature and the visual and cinematic arts and uses a similar filter when creating her music. An aim is to capture and process experiences and elevate
them to the realm of the poetic. This is really what music, and all art, allows us to do.
“I want to make the common inspiring and the mundane seem magical - because they are.”
