GANDHAAR AMIN X DHAIVAT JANI
6.00
Gandhaar Amin grew up learning Indian classical music on the Bansuri, since the age of 4. After spending the first 20 years of his life deeply immersed in this traditional art form, Gandhaar decided to use this learning to create music that smoothly blends centuries old melodic structures with modern electronic music production. The idea was to bring traditional Indian music to a global audience in a way that can be presented in performance venues and environments available to us today.
Gandhaar has since released multiple EPs and singles, polishing the unique sound that he discovered through this blending of distinctly different worlds. He has been performing this music as a solo performer and with a band for about a decade. Since moving to Toronto a year ago, he teamed up with tabla player and drummer Dhaivat Jani, who fit right in and was the perfect partner to play this music live with.
This duo performance brings Indian classical melodies to a western urban audience, on a platter of groovy beats and lush synths.
