SONGS OF LIGHT
Ventanas Winter Tour

Songs of Light is a luminous winter concert that brings people together through music rooted in love, memory, and shared humanity. Drawing from Sephardi Judeo-Spanish songs, flamenco traditions from southern Spain, Balkan rhythms, and original global compositions, Ventanas creates a rich and expressive musical journey shaped by story, movement, and voice.

The program is deeply connected to songs gathered and carried across generations. As a child, vocalist and dancer Tamar Ilana grew up travelling with her mother, an ethnomusicologist, learning old songs in villages, homes, and communities throughout the Mediterranean and beyond. These melodies, passed hand to hand and voice to voice, now live alongside new compositions, forming a living dialogue between tradition and the present moment.

Throughout the concert, light appears as a guiding theme: candles glowing in windows, long winter nights filled with song, dawn slowly returning after darkness. The music moves fluidly between intimate, reflective moments and fiery, rhythm-driven pieces that warm the room and invite celebration. Designed for winter audiences in theatres, arts centres, and community spaces, Songs of Light offers a gathering place in the cold season — a shared experience of warmth, beauty, and connection.
