CONNECTIONS TRIO
5.30

Connections is a group whose goal is to mix modern Neo-Soul and Hip-Hop music with its traditional Jazz roots through the means of musical improvisation. The core of the group is a piano trio but additional members such as horns or MCs join the band to deepen the musical conversation. Beats that have been sampled from Jazz classics are reunited in arrangements that mix the song form and harmony of the original music with the stylings, feel, and attitude of Hip-Hop music. Jazz standards not sampled for beats are also remixed to create new ways of playing and listening to well-loved classics.

Having toured internationally with the legendary Cuban group Anacaona and now based in Toronto, Canada, Marta has been invited to perform with Yani Borrell, Conjunto Lacalu and the Juno-winning Cuban jazz pianist Hilario Duran and featured at the Lulaworld, Salsa on St. Clair and Latin Sparks festivals.
