Debi Botos Quartet

  • Drom taberna 458 Queen Street West Toronto, ON, M5V 2A8 Canada (map)

9pm Debi Botos Quartet

The band’s captivating, high-energy performances transport audiences back in time as The Debi Botos Quartet blends musicianship, creativity, and tradition. With all acoustic instruments (guitars, upright bass, violin) keeping the music of Django Reinhardt alive and vibrant, they have fantastic showmanship and interaction with the crowd, who are enjoying and dancing along to the music. The Debi Botos Quartet draws its repertoire from decades of musical history, true to the traditional gypsy jazz music from the 1920s to the 50’s and authentic Hungarian gypsy music. Due to Debi’s Hungarian Gypsy roots, she adds many colours and inventive sounds to the music of Django Reinhardt. Debi Botos has been described as “The Gypsy Jazz Warrior Princess” and “Gypsy Jazz Queen” by very influential musicians in this style and is constantly engaging larger and larger audiences. She has studied and played with artists Denis Chang, Angelo Debarre, Raangy Debarre, William Brunard and Christian Van Hemert.
